Accelerating Futures

STEM Racing at The British School, New Delhi. Students design, build and race a miniature car, and run their team like a business.

What STEM Racing is

STEM Racing, formerly known as F1 in Schools, is one of the largest STEM competitions in the world, with teams from over fifty countries. Teams of students design, engineer, manufacture and race a miniature CO2-powered car.

At the same time they run the team as a small business: sponsorship, branding, marketing, finance and project management. The strongest teams progress from school level through Regional and National Finals to the World Finals.

The journey

  1. Form a team

Three to six students, with roles across engineering, enterprise and project management.

  2. Design and make

CAD, analysis, manufacturing and testing, backed by a sponsorship and marketing plan.

  3. Compete

Scrutineering, judging, presentations and racing, from the Regional Finals to the World Finals.
